Mobile App
As a startup company, Shop LIT Live was very eager to build a tool that can help user get entertainment while doing online purchases. No more boring, long description reading or product comparison between website to website. LIT Live wanted to rebuild the in person, face to face shopping experience that was limited by the pandemic. The idea of live stream shopping was already pretty popular in China, so maybe it's time to try it out in the states.
The team needed help with the branding and UI/UX design for the app. It was a big role to fill, especially for a relative newcomer in the UI/UX field. However, it provided a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of how an mobile app works; everything started from ideation to design, to prototype, to beta testing and much more. Being in a startup business mean there were many tasks for me to help out the business/marketing side of the company.
UI Component Library
The finalize UI component library, I researched into how and what path of the app should move forward to. Later I redefine the user journey, understand the target audience, and bring a new look to the app. Gather all the components from the previous versions and upgrade it. The library/design tokens are not only modular, expandable, but also adaptable on different platform like the Android system and later on website.
With a flexible library, prototyping different transition from page to page was a lot more ease and fun to explore different way to bring the app more mature.
Website Functionality
Other than the mobile app, our team also build a functionality that allow user to watch the live stream on website. It can also be embed on to other website if the brand/host wish to let their customers to watch the live without the download of the app while shopping on the website.
The UI component library come in handy when building the website. It helps keep the consistent look with the app. When click in to see the full view, any products that are shown during the live will be pin on the right hand side and the live chat will be on the left side. If it's embed on website, exit full view will turn it into a mini player.
